A New Chapter
Over the past month, Charlie and I have packed up our life in London and made the move to beautiful Clevedon, just outside Bristol.
The move happened incredibly quickly after Charlie was offered an exciting opportunity as Partnership Relationship Manager at Bristol City Football Club. We'd often talked about building a life somewhere a little slower, closer to nature and the coast, so when this opportunity came along, it felt like the right time to take the leap.
That didn't make leaving any easier.
Within a few days we were searching for somewhere to live, packing up our home, saying goodbye to friends and clients, and getting ready to start again somewhere completely new.
Alongside the move, Freya Louise Flow didn't stop. I launched Midweek Reset, carried on teaching until my very last week in London, and have been so grateful that several of my in person clients have continued their Pilates journey with me through private online sessions. It's been lovely knowing that, although we've moved away, we can still move together.
The hardest part of the move wasn't the packing.
It was saying goodbye.
Over the past few years, my clients have become so much more than people who come to Pilates each week. We've celebrated milestones, worked through injuries, built confidence and shared so many conversations before and after class. Teaching my final sessions at Revive and The Garage Studio was really special and, although there were lots of smiles, there were definitely a few tears too!
To everyone who has trusted me with their movement journey, thank you. You've helped shape me into the teacher I am today, and I'll always be incredibly grateful.
My final week in London also happened to be spent completing further training with Body Control Pilates. Between teaching, seeing private clients and spending full days learning on the Chair, Ladder Barrel and Cadillac, there wasn't much time left for packing. By the time moving day arrived, we were definitely running on adrenaline and strong coffee!
I'm now able to teach on all studio equipment, and my next goal is to work towards completing my Fully Comprehensive qualification with Body Control Pilates.
For me, it isn't about collecting qualifications. It's about continuing to learn so I can give my clients the very best experience possible.
It's also another step towards a dream I've had for a long time.
One day, I'd love to have a small Pilates studio of my own. Somewhere calm, welcoming and community focused, where people can step away from the busyness of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through movement. It's still a dream for now, but this move and this next stage of my training both feel like they're taking me a little closer.
As I settle into life here in Clevedon, I'm excited to build a new community while staying connected to those who have already been part of this journey.
If you're local, I'd love to welcome you to a class as Freya Louise Flow begins to grow here. And if you're not nearby, I'd love for you to join me online. Whether that's Midweek Reset on a Wednesday morning or a private online session, I'd love to keep moving with you, wherever you are.
Looking back, I've realised this move was about much more than changing where we live.
It was about saying goodbye to people and places that have meant so much, continuing to grow as both a person and a teacher, and making space for something new.
Perhaps that's what this season has really been about.
Letting go to make space for something new.
